Chicken Stuffed Buns

Ingredients for Buns

600ml Cake wheat flour
15ml Active Yeast
125ml Milk
30ml Warm Water
125ml Sunflower / Vegetable Oil
30ml White Sugar
1 egg, beaten
Salt to taste
Optional: White Sesame Seeds for sprinkling

Ingredients for Chicken Filling

2 Deboned Chicken Breasts (450ml), shredded
2 Onions, finely chopped
5ml Ginger & Garlic paste
5ml Red Chilli Powder
7.5ml Coriander
2ml Cumin Powder
2ml Garam Masala
30ml Coriander leaves, finely chopped
Salt to taste

Pre-heat your oven to 200°C

Making the Buns

1. Dissolve the yeast in warm water with 7.5ml sugar and 7.5ml flour. Leave aside for 10 min.
2. Boil the milk and cool till it is warm to the touch. Add remaining sugar, oil and salt.
3. Mix well with a wooden spoon until the sugar dissolves. Add 250ml flour and mix to a smooth paste.
4. Stir in the beaten egg, yeast and mix. Add the remaining flour and mix well till it forms a smooth dough.
5. Knead well for 10 minutes. Let it rest till it doubles in volume (approx an hour or two). While its resting prepare the chicken filling.

Making the Chicken Filling

1. On the Snappy Chef, heat the oil in a medium casserole (on setting P5 / 800W), add the onions and saute for 2 min,
add in the Ginger & Garlic paste and saute for another 2 min.
2. Reduce the heat to setting P4 / 600W) and add the remaining spices. Mix well.
3. Add the shredded chicken and mix well. Add salt to taste. Cook for 3 minutes.
4. Switch off the stove, and allow to cool.

Finishing Up

1. Punch down the dough lightly using your palm and divide the dough equally.
7. Flatten each portion and fill with 15ml of the chicken filling. Re-shape into a smooth ball. Sprinkle the top with sesame seeds.
8. Let it rest for another 20 mins.
9. Bake in pre-heated oven for 10-12 minutes.


You can try different fillings of your choice. Grated paneer, mixed vegetables, green peas masala make for a good filling.
These buns taste good without the stuffing too.
